Academic & Learning Tools
Computer Learning Center (CLC) Labs
CLC labs provide open-access computers and a variety of academic software. Additional departmental labs offer major-specific software and features excellent open technology spaces ready to use for your solo or collaborative academic computing needs.
Degree Works is an online tool designed to help plan and track your courses so you can stay on track to graduate on time.
LinkedIn Learning gives SIU students access to thousands of online courses covering technology, business, creative skills, and more. It also offers AI-powered coaches to help practice job interviews and provides a variety of certifications that can boost your resume and help you stand out in the job market.

Communication & Collaboration

All SIU students receive a Microsoft 365 account, giving access to cloud-based versions of popular Office apps like Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. It’s a convenient way to create, edit, and share files from anywhere, on any device.

After registering for classes, an SIU email address will be automatically created for you in the format firstname.lastname@siu.edu. This email is the official channel for all university communications, so be sure to check it regularly. You can access your inbox by visiting in a web browser, using the Microsoft Outlook app on your computer, or adding your SIU email to your mobile device.

Network & Connectivity
Eduroam: Eduroam is the secure Wi-Fi network available on campus and at thousands of institutions worldwide. Connect easily without needing separate network access—view instructions to get started.
VPN: Under certain circumstances, SIU offers students access to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), allowing secure remote connection to the university’s network for off-campus work and resources.
Printing
SalukiTech Printing Services
SalukiTech Printing offers easy access to printers for students, faculty, and staff in convenient locations on campus. You can send documents to the print queue from campus computers or wirelessly from your personal devices. Payments are made using funds, which are linked to your SIU Carbondale ID card.
Research & Advancing Computing

Students have free access to LinkedIn Learning, an online platform offering over 22,000 expert-led courses across a wide range of topics. Earn completion certificates to showcase on your resume or LinkedIn profile—and take advantage of the built-in AI interview coach to prepare with confidence for job applications and interviews.
As a student at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, you have access to a variety of services and resources that cyber-criminals also want. To keep the campus community digitally secure, SIUC adopted Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Microsoft Authenticator is a mobile app that we use as part of the MFA process to quickly and safely verify your identity when accessing SIU systems.
